Simon is widely acknowledged as one of the UK’s leading experts on contemporary British pantomime. He is curator of the National Database of Pantomime Performance and founder of Panto Day. Simon has written on the subject of pantomime for journals New Theatre Quarterly, Studies in Musical Theatre, Comedy Studies, Popular Entertainment Studies and Studies in Theatre and Performance with a number of his pantomime scripts available for licensing. He is a regular guest on BBC radio stations at Christmas and contributes pantomime content to a number of publications, theatres and companies including Channel 4, First Family Entertainment and the Birmingham Hippodrome.
